Raven Chacon at NAU

The Kitt School of Music of Northern Arizona University hosts Pulitzer Prize winner, MacArthur Fellow, and NACAP mentor Raven Chacon in a celebration of music by Diné composers. Chacon will give a lecture about his music on Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Kitt Recital Hall, and on Feb. 5 at 11:30 a.m. will meet and greet NAU students and community members at the Native American Cultural Center across from Cline Library. On Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m., Ensemble Flageolet will perform Chacon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “Voiceless Mass” and premiere commissioned compositions by NACAP mentor and alum Michael Begay, “Four Coyotes” for string quartet, and NAU student and NACAP alum Sage Bond.

Free Tax Help in Sheep Springs

The Tooh’ Haltsooi council of Naataanii (Sheep Spring) chapter announces free in-person income tax preperation services starting Feb. 5. Mondays only, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., no appointment needed. This is through AARP, open to anyone but especially ages 50+ and those that can’t afford paid tax prep.
