SAMHSA recently released a publication that highlights effective treatments and services for woman who are pregnant or are parenting infants.
The resource serves as a guide to collaborative approaches to support pregnant and parenting women with opioid use disorder. “A Collaborative Approach to the Treatment of Pregnant Women with Opioid Use Disorders: Practice and Policy Considerations for Child Welfare and Collaborating Service Providers,” was developed in partnership with the Administration on Children, Youth, and Families. The publication includes information about opioid use by pregnant women and the effects on the child, evidence-based practices for treatment, case study examples, tools to do a gap analysis and develop a collaborative action plan.
