At NARF, we are dedicated to supporting the next generation of Indian law lawyers, and one way we do this is through our Law Clerk Program. Today, we’re highlighting Laura Daniels, a law clerk in our Washington, DC, office this summer.
Laura is from Lexington, Massachusetts, and received her Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Marketing from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. She will be entering her final semester at Syracuse University College of Law in New York this fall. In addition to focusing her studies on Indian law, Laura worked to revive the Native American Law Students Association and petitioned the school for approval to place the Haudenosaunee Confederacy flag in the school’s courtroom.
In addition to her law school experience, Laura also completed her Master’s in Business Administration and her Certificate in Sustainable Enterprise this past May at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. She hopes to use her education to work in tribal economic development.
After her first year of law school, Laura interned at the Navajo Nation Supreme Court where she drafted opinions for consideration by the justices. Last summer, Laura worked in the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Indian Gaming, drafting memos and decisions and analyzing financial reports.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys traveling, visiting museums, trying new foods, and going to estate sales.
Welcome, Laura!
