Tribal leaders meet with Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs

On Nov. 28, Navajo Nation Council Speaker Crystalyne Curley was among several tribal leaders who met with Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs and her policy advisors to receive updates regarding efforts to address fraudulent sober living homes in the Phoenix area, which have victimized enrolled members of numerous tribes including the Navajo Nation.

Curley acknowledged that much work has been done, however, many families continue to devote many of their own resources to search for their loved ones and that more needs to be done to provide support. The discussion also focused on the next steps, which may include amending state statutes to address fraudulent sober living homes and to hold individuals accountable.

Earlier this year, the Navajo Nation implemented Operation Rainbow Bridge to help hundreds of Navajo Nation members in the Phoenix area. Many have returned home safely to the Navajo Nation thanks to the combined efforts.
